Friends of Ticehurst Committee

Chairperson - Julie Butler

Julie became involved with the Ticehurst Residential Home when her mother-in-law required full time nursing.  As a result of her very favourable impressions, she decided to form The Friends of Ticehurst to assist a very dedicated and committed nursing and management team to raise funds and awareness of Ticehurst's activities.  Julie is a Councillor and lives in Petersfield - her Portfolio is Customer Relations.  Julie's efforts in the area of dementia awareness are not restricted to Ticehurst.... she works closely with

MP, Damian Hinds to raise Dementia awareness in East Hampshire.  Petersfield businesses are signing up to be Dementia Friends and Julie herself, is now a fully trained Dementia friend. Additionally, the actor and comedian Hugh Dennis, has been engaged as a champion in Petersfield.

Ticehurst Manager - Peninah Mutambisi

Born and raised in Masvingo, Zimbabwe, Peninah qualified as a General Nurse, Midwife and Mental Health Nurse.  Although Peninah does not have children of her own , she has a large extended family that she is very close to.  In 2002, Peninah moved to the UK to seek a more challenging scope for her nursing skills and in 2005 she joined the HCC as one of the first nurses working in the new Nursing side of Ticehurst. Peninah took on the role of Deputy Manager/Head of Care in 2008 and has since gained a

Level 5 Leadership and Management Diploma and was promoted to Registered Manager. With a clear passion for care of the elderly, Peninah is extremely grateful to the HCC for helping her to achieve her ambitions.  She enjoys taking a clinical lead role and implementing effective ways of caring for residents. Currently, she is responsible for leading and managing a large team of more than 100 staff members as well as monitoring, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating residents' care needs on a daily basis. Peninah believes that she and her team are empowered by the HCC with knowledge and skills to meet the Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards of care and with an overall rating in February 2017 of "GOOD" for Ticehurst, Peninah and the team are justifiably proud.

Treasurer - Annette Butcher

Annette has a career working in Finance in both the small business sector and also large Corporate companies and is now retired. Annette is no stranger to charity fundraising and is also Treasurer for the Aldershot & Farnborough Fundraising Branch for Guide Dogs. Annette's mother was a resident at Ticehurst from March 2013 until she sadly passed away in May 2017.   Annette feels she'd like to continue to support the excellent work carried out by the staff.

Secretary - Jenny Keating

Jenny's background is in administration with specific skills in communication, IT and management.  So impressed with the care her Mom, Norma, receives at Ticehurst,  Jenny offered her services to the FoT team.  Although retired and living in Portugal with her husband and having a busy travelling schedule with her three children all in different countries, she continues to provide secretarial assistance and joins meetings via Skype.  Every few months, Jenny visits the UK to see her Mom and she's always so happy to hug the team!

Activity Co-ordinator - Laura Dewsnap

Laura has a challenging role at Ticehurst but says that it's the most rewarding position she's held.... especially when she sees the smiles! She's been at Ticehurst since 2005 the first six years as Head of Kitchen, but before that had a varied career in building infrastructure, selling computers and qualifying herself as a Cellarman and a Publican Licensee, not to mention running a Total Petrol Shop and managing a Men's Retail Outlet.  Apart from Ticehurst, Laura has a 13-year passion for rescuing and fostering greyhounds.  At the moment she has three greyhounds who share her home with a Jack Russell cross.

Activity Co-ordinator - Karen Clayton

Karen hails from Battersea, London but moved to Aldershot in the late 80's.  Although her background is in publishing, Karen did care for her disabled Dad for some time and joined Ticehurst as a carer in 2009.  After a short spell in Nursing, as a Practitioner she was very keen to get back to the Residential section - on 1 June 2017, Karen took on the role of Activity Co-ordinator. Married to John for 35 years, she has two sons and four grandchildren who keep her busy - she does however find the time to enjoy a bit of gardening.  When asked about her love for her job, it was a profound "It's the smiles on their faces" that she mentioned immediately.  She experiences a feeling of peace when she walks through the Ticehurst doors to start her day.
