Friends of Ticehurst..... an update!

Most importantly, we need to advise that we'll be holding the 5th Friends of Ticehurst Annual General Meeting on Monday, 10 January 2022 at 18h30. We'll present the Chairman's Report and the Treasurer's Report at the meeting for 2021.
We're not expecting the meeting to take longer than 40 minutes which is the Zoom limit for free usage.

If you haven't used Zoom before, when you click on the link, the application will automatically load to your device. It's an intuitive and simple way to hold a meeting. If anyone would like more information, please send an email to Jenny Keating.

Currently, much of the activity between Ticehurst and the friends and relatives of its residents, relates to Covid-19 issues, which is understandable and must always take precedence.

As a result however, the Friends of Ticehurst Committee's fundraising efforts have been severely hampered and whilst the truly amazing staff at the home continue to work towards creating a stimulating and caring environment for our loved ones, we've not been able to organise our usual events.

In the run up to Christmas, there have been a few activities to keep our residents engaged and involved......
Christmas Pudding - Mixing the Fruit
Christmas Lights - New Summerhouse

Annual General Meeting - 2021/2022

We were due to hold our AGM in February this year, but due to Covid and in accordance with the requirements for charities set by the UK Government, the physical meeting was cancelled via a resolution dated 4 March and a notice was circulated to relatives and friends together with our Chairperson's report and the annual financial report. We'll shortly be sending out a notice about the 2022 AGM which we're hoping to hold in January, probably via Zoom.

Sensory Garden Project

During 2020, we managed to procure grants for this project to the value of £15,000. Our aim is to create a sensory garden for our residents and if we're able to realise this, it could be a unique achievement for a County Council home.

In spite of these difficult times, we are very pleased to announce that Phase I of our project is underway and this summer, our residents will be able to make their way safely to the new summerhouse where they'll enjoy an ice cream or a cup of tea. If you'd like to find out more about our project and what we ultimately hope to achieve.... click here.

Ticehurst Events during Covid Lockdown

Firstly, FoT believes that a huge vote of thanks should go to Peninah and her exceptional team for their efforts to care for our relatives during this pandemic. At times, it's been long hours, plenty of patience, enormous anxiety and coming up with innovative ideas to keep our residents well and occupied.

Please have a look at the photos taken at the various events organised by the team's wonderful event co-ordinators and the smiles that accompanies the activities!

If you'd like to see more pictures of our previous events, please go to the "Events" menu tab and see the great events that we've had for our residents over the last 4-5 years.

Dementia Research

Have a look at the latest on dementia research from Alzheimer's Research UK. It's always worthwhile to look through these amazing websites to see what's happening in the work to combat this awful condition. Click on the link to see the latest from Dementia UK.
Rushmoor Lottery

We'd like to remind everyone to join the Rushmoor Lottery - so far, we're on track to raise £360.00 this year..... this has been slow but steady and we can certainly do a lot with this money.

Please click here to buy some lottery tickets.... remember to identify Friends of Ticehurst as the cause you're supporting. Thank you!
